Hi James,
I watch some videos on YouTube and I have got the Essence of Enlightenment book and have yet to read it (slowly) due to as of now finishing studying non-duality from David R Hawkins.
My question is: I am 34 and about a year ago I had a huge lapse of judgment and let a Protestant street preacher pray for me. He then sneakily sunk his hand into my aura deeply and proceeded to list off the 7 main demons in Christianity’s Hell. I then unfortunately for the past year have been dealing with intense ice cold burning, shaking whatever. I sit on and growling/hissing/knocking- common place negative entity supernatural stuff.
I have a Vedanta friend from Australia into Jame’s work and he says I’m not subject to anything like this due to being pure awareness/universal consciousness and need deeper subtle surrender to God.
My question being is there any recommended mantra/prayer that can be said to cast this thing off and out for good – luckily it’s not in my mind or will just latched onto my subtle body/aura. I’ve played the lotus sutra to no avail but since I still have an ego still and not in enough deep surrender it shakes me especially before I try to sleep. (This isn’t any form of psychosis or mental issue) that’s been verified. Since this was a “Christian” street preacher” I had a Catholic priest bless my house and it didn’t totally work.
Thank you for any advice so much.
James: You are not psychotic, perhaps a bit too trusting, dare I say gullible. When you want something badly without knowing what it is…like non-duality…your discrimination sometimes deserts you.
The only fear is fear itself. Christians are generally well-meaning but spiritually dull individuals who respect fear a little too much. The church is just a collection of individuals who love God but love fear a little more. Since fear is built in, due to lack of knowledge of God, the fearless Self, these individuals use it to gather like-minded souls together to buttress their own love of fear. So for this kind of person fear is smart.
This preacher didn’t stick his hand into your aura, he stuck his fear-filled aura into your aura and scared the shit out of you. You’re still trembling. No blame. But you need to know that being fearful is not ultimately smart. It works in the short run for small things but in terms of a philosophy of life it stinks because it is completely contrary to the truth. Which is that life is actually a benign benevolent force, a friend, not an enemy.
What can you do about it? You are doing some things that have partially worked, it seems. But your ego is basically lazy and wants a simple fix, which is understandable since living with a fearful mind is very painful. Listening to mantras doesn’t work unless you know what they mean. Mantras are just thoughts that sound nice and provide a temporary feel-good factor. Here is a mantra that will solve the problem that you can think about but which you will need help understanding. “I am ever-free unborn ordinary existence shining as whole and complete blissful consciousness.” You will note that there is no mention of fear in this string of thoughts.
Vedanta is the science of mantras, meaning the complete knowledge of the nature of the world, the individuals in the world and God, the creator of the world.
Because fear is hard-wired it is difficult to conquer it. If you are willing to commit yourself to understanding reality then perhaps I can help you. But Vedanta is not a band-aid. It heals the cause of the seven deadly sins.
There are some Catholics who are more evolved who don’t buy into fear but don’t have a comprehensive means of God knowledge so I suggest you avoid them. Definitely avoid the Bible thumpers. There are also some well-meaning non-dualists who don’t know they are actually dualists and who can at least support the idea of non-duality but I suggest you stay away from them for the same reason. They lack a systematic means of God knowledge.
If you use the fear to commit yourself to Vedanta, knowing that it is a gradual, not a quick, fix. You can overcome it. Fear causes desire and the desire to know who and what you are is essential if you are going to love yourself and live a fearless life.
If you want to chat with me, make a donation to ShiningWorld and schedule a session and I will see if you are ready for Vedanta. Vedanta works. I suggest you start reading the satsangs on ShiningWorld to get a feel for Vedanta.
Love,
James
