Step-by-Step Program for Dealing with Dissatisfaction and Insecurity

When will you truly be able to say, “I’ve made it.” 

The answer is “As soon as I start working on myself!”

How does that work?

 1. Acknowledge Your Current State

    (a)  Recognize that feeling needy, insecure, greedy, and dissatisfied is a natural part of being human. Everyone experiences these feelings to some degree.

    (b) Self-Reflection.  Take time to reflect on your emotions and identify specific areas where you feel dissatisfied or insecure.

 2.  Acceptance and Endurance

    (a)  Can you accept these feelings without judgment? Understand that it’s okay to feel this way and that these feelings do not define you.

    (b)  Can you endure the uncomfortable sensations that come with these feelings? Practice meditation, pray or start therapy and stay present with your emotions without trying to suppress or escape them.

    (c)  Verbally express your willingness to accept and endure unwanted emotions.

 3.  Outgrow Your Limitations

     (a)  Can you outgrow the erroneous notion that external achievements (like finding a dream partner or getting a salary increase) are not the ultimate sources of happiness and security?

     (b)  Make a serious moral inventory.  Verbally express your willingness to change the values that cause you believe that possessing and enjoying things produces happiness.

     (c)  Transcendental Fulfillment: Realize that your true nature is the only real security, not wealth or emotional relationships.  Verbally assert your intention to discover the contentment and security that does not rely on achievements and circumstances.  Live the simple kind of life that truly Self -actualized beings have modeled over time.
