X… Please allow me one last sentence for now. Since a long time I gave up fighting with people (friends or collegues etc.) about right or wrong in the corona circus. The hypnotic bubbles seemed to be too strong and only emotional stuff was coming up. The same applies to people with fancy conspiracy theories. So I would like to avoid going for “right” or “wrong“ in our discussion!! The only real goal I have is liberation. True knowledge. Whatever serves this one and only purpose is the only need!
James: You say you gave up fighting about the corona circus a long time ago but here you are fighting me with considerable anger. You say you want liberation but now you want the last word.
You have to be qualified for liberation and the first qualification is discrimination (viveka), which is always leads to dispassion (viragya), which means objectivity. If you are actually objective you wouldn’t have made up your mind about the vaccine for at least ten years, which is the time it generally takes to get enough information on a new technology to make an intelligent choice. Another general rule that you ignored is the fact that generally adverse reactions to a new technology happen within a few days, maybe weeks or a month, perhaps two. But perhaps a billlon people have received the vaccine with virtually no reports of negative reactions. Anyway, you weren’t ready to accept common sense and you couldn’t wait to have a big cause to fight for. It probably makes you feel that you are nobody’s fool and it nicely fits in with the conspiracy idea that had already captured your mind and you bought into the, dare I say, irrational views of so-called fear-minded “experts” who helped to convince you that you are “right.”
This is not the behavior of a qualified person. I am doing the Mundaka (not the Mandukya) Upanishad tomorrow that discusses the relationship between discrimination and dispassion. If you can’t attend online, you can watch the video later.
The next topic is Isvara. You said you are not clear on this topic. My previous email was an attempt to explain Isvara in a way that you might understand, but you didn’t reply to it. Instead you needed to get the last word on the vaccine issue, as I mentioned above. When you wrote that arrogant aggressive letter to Sundari, it was clear that you didn’t understand Isvara since Sundari is Isvara, as I am, as are you. If you love yourself, which you obviously do, they you naturally love Sundari too, but your behavior suggests otherwise. So your devotion to Isvara, which is another very important qualification, also needs a bit of work.
I’m not trying to bust your ego, X….: that’s your job once you have understood the teaching. As I mentioned previously, I think the problem is that you found Vedantic ideas useful in your work and that that professional filter perhaps is preventing you from getting the essence of the teaching.
Anyway, let me hear your arguments, if you have any, and we will continue to argue. Of course, you won’t win because you are arguing from a misunderstanding and Vedanta has worked out the answer to every possible objection. I also mentioned before that if you saw me as Isvara there would be no need to argue. Finally, since I am Isvara I have infinite patience and will continue to support you.
Love,
James
