The Waking World is a Dream
As the dreamer in the dream world, I am convinced that I, as the individual dreamer-person, am real. I am convinced the dream world, dream-experiences and dream-objects are real. I am adamant they are real. I cannot be convinced otherwise, while in the dream state. I, the dreamer-person, do not know that I am really the waker-person, but now asleep and dreaming.
On waking, from the viewpoint of me, as the individual waker-person, I know that the dream-person, the dream world, the dream-objects and the dream-experiences are all unreal. I know that they are unsubstantial, ephemeral, an appearance, a projection from the mind, temporary, with a beginning and end. From the waking perspective, I take everything in dream to be mithya.
On waking, as the individual waker-person in the waking world, I am convinced that my waking-world, waking-objects, the waking-experiences are all real. As the waking-person, I am convinced they all are real. I am adamant they are definitely real. I cannot be convinced otherwise, while in the waking state. I take everything in waking to be real (satyam).
But from the viewpoint of Me, Consciousness, I know that the individual waking-person, the waking world, like the dream world, are all also unreal, unsubstantial, ephemeral, an appearance, a projection from the cosmic mind, temporary, with a beginning and end. The waking world and the dream world are all mithya with different degrees of unreality.
I, Consciousness, alone am real, always present and never change. I alone am satyam.
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream!
