Dearest James and Sundari,
In honor of Guru Purnima I want you to know that I think of you daily, reading your Satsangs and dedicating myself to nididhyasana since you guided me to self-realization and further to overcome enlightenment sickness just over a year ago.
Shortly into that first year of nididhyasana a samskara about money/security I didn’t even know I had revealed itself and once I admitted it Isvara has sent me endless support in the form of minds and connections that operate from the principles of non-dual wisdom, whether it is referred to that or not, of course, as everything necessary to eliminate that samskara.
Additionally, I have had an interesting experience ongoing for months where I do not remember dreams. I take it as a good sign of my assimilation, there are just no worries. Any thoughts about this?
Please know that my recent small donation is only a reflection of my current bank balance and not at all a commentary on the value I have received from your service which is priceless. I can always give again, and often, instead of putting off duty of gratitude and esteem to my teachers so the ego could feel better about itself by showing off a big donation (not that there is anything wrong with big donations!)…
Oh, how the ego lurks…Year two of nidhiyasana is underway with love for the dear jiva
Sundari: Lovely to hear from you again and thank you so much for your kind thoughts and your donation, we very much appreciate both. Particularly rewarding is hearing how the teachings on nonduality are working for you, well done for sticking with your sadhana! Vedanta works to end suffering and limitation, there is no question of that. Even though as you say, the ego lurks! Remind yourself that if you know the lurking ego you cannot be it.
The lack of dreams may be a sign of assimilation and the firming up of Self-knowledge; I too seldom dream, and if I do, the dreams are insignificant. But James often has extraordinary dreams, some are beautifully symbolic, and some are of fighting off ‘demons’, a.k.a., beginningless ignorance. They certainly have nothing to do with who he is, neither as the Self or the Jiva.
What happens when Self-knowledge obtains is that dreams are seen the same way waking life is seen, as the universal gunas (Causal body) out-picturing in the mind. Nothing personal in it whatsoever as all doership and binding vasanas are negated. Having dreams of whatever kind is the same as having good or bad thoughts in the waking state. You are the knower of the thoughts and the dreams, they have no impact on you.
Do stay in touch, and may Self-knowledge be your shield in all things mithya
Much love
Sundari
