Panchadasi was written in the 14th Century by a great Vedantic sage, Vidyaranya. It is perhaps the most comprehensive and well-organized Vedanta prakarana text. It is suitable for advanced inquirers as it requires a basic knowledge of Vedanta. The ninety hours of this series was brilliantly taught to 100 inquirers by James in Tiruvannamalai South India in January 2015. The 74 files take considerable time to download, not to mention 80 Gigabytes of disk space, but it is well worth the trouble. The Tiruvannamalai 2013, Spain and Trout Lake 2014 Panchadasi videos are excellent but not as comprehensive as this series.

Panchadasi, ‘the book with 15 chapters,’ was written in the 14th century by Vidyaranya Swami, one of the Shankaracharyas of Sringeri Math. Unlike some Vedantic texts, Panchadasi presents the entire teaching in a clearly arranged fashion that avoids excessive repetition of ideas. It is considered to be one of the greatest scriptures of Vedanta and a compulsory textbook for all serious inquirers. It is one of James’ personal favorites, an opinion shared by the great mahatma of Chennai, Swami Paramarthananda.
